Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - N.N.I.C.U. - 1 -

DESCRIPTION: Provides NP/PA patient care under the general
supervision of a physician in Neonatal Intensive Care. Performs
comprehensive patient assessments including medical histories
and physical exams; orders medication/diagnostic test and
evaluates results; forms diagnoses and identifies problems;
plans and implements plans of care; intervenes in crisis
situations; provides routine and illness care; monitors and
evaluates patient outcomes; assumes responsibility for follow-up
and interdisciplinary coordination; may direct team for
transport of acutely ill neonates; maintains medical records;
initiates referrals and consultations; participates in
interdisciplinary team meetings; performs special examinations
and invasive procedures; may participate in clinical research
and it's integration into practice; provides patient/family
counseling and education; participates in staff teaching; acts
as clinical consultant to peers and other health care
professionals; performs related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Considerable knowledge of fetal/neonatal
anatomy and physiology; knowledge of different disciplines and
disease states; physical assessment skills; skill in performing
invasive procedures; ability to work independently and to work
under pressure in a rapidly changing, stressful environment;
ability to formulate plans of care; must possess decision-making
ability and counseling skills; knowledge of medications and
their interactions and reactions; oral and written communication
skills; considerable interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED: Experience in Neonatology or Pediatrics
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must possess a Master's Degree, a
license as a Registered Nurse and as an APRN in the State of CT
and have completed an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
program; or have a Bachelors degree, have completed a two year
accredited and approved Physician Assistant Certification
program and possess or be eligible for a license to practice in
the State of Connecticut. Possession of knowledge, skills, and
abilities as stated above.
SPECIAL: Student rotation or post graduate internship in an
officially designated tertiary NICU equal to or greater than 6
weeks.
SCHEDULE: Position is full time, 80 hours/2weeks; requires
flexibility to provide coverage; includes nights and weekends,
holidays as needed.

Pediatric House Physician
DESCRIPTION: Provides direct patient care in the NICU under
the supervision of a neonatologist. Performs comprehensive
patient assessments including medical histories and physical
exams; orders medication/diagnostic test and evaluates results;
forms diagnoses and identifies problems; plans and implements
plans of care; intervenes in crisis situations; provides routine
and illness care; monitors and evaluates patient outcomes;
assumes responsibility for follow-up and interdisciplinary
coordination; may direct team for transport of acutely ill
neonates; maintains medical records; initiates referrals and
consultations; participates in interdisciplinary team meetings;
performs special examinations and invasive procedures; may
participate in clinical research and it's integration into
practice; provides patient/family counseling and education;
participates in staff teaching; acts as clinical consultant to
peers and other health care professionals; performs related
duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: MD (Pediatrics) Board Eligible in US. Skill
in performing invasive procedures; ability to work independently
and to work under pressure in a rapidly changing, stressful
environment; ability to formulate plans of care; must possess
decision-making ability and counseling skills; oral and written
communication skills; considerable interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED: Experience in Neonatology
SPECIAL: Residency rotation or post graduate working
experience in an officially designated tertiary NICU equal to or
greater than 12 weeks.
SCHEDULE: Position is full time, 80 hours/2weeks; requires
flexibility to provide coverage; includes nights and weekends,
holidays as needed.
VISA STATUS: Will entertain H1B visa applicants but not J1
